Is It True That The Higher The Layer Of The Atmosphere (That Is Closer To The Sun) ,The Hotter The Temperature?

is it true that the higher the layer of the atmosphere (that is closer to the sun) ,the hotter the temperature?

Good Day...

It is not True that as you go higher from troposphere to thermosphere the temperature will constantly increase. Earth atmosphere is divided into 5 layers namely, troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere. The temperature as you go higher from lower troposphere (approximately 25 degree celsius) to upper troposphere (approximately - 55 degree celius) is actually decreasing. Then when you move from lower  stratosphere to upper stratosphere the temperature will increase. And in the mesosphere it is recorded that here you can find the coldest temperature in earths atmosphere (approximately -90 degree celsius). And when you climb up to thermosphere temperature ranges from 500-2000 degree celsius. In the last layer there you can find the hottest layer exosphere that temperature increases from 2000 degree celsius.

Hope it helps....
